Professional Education:
|
A licensed naturopathic physician (ND) attends a four-year, graduate-level naturopathic medical school. Education consists of the same basic sciences and medical classes as an MD along with natural approaches to medicine that emphasize disease prevention and optimizing wellness. In addition to a standard medical curriculum, the naturopathic physician also studies clinical nutrition, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, psychology, and counseling. A naturopathic physician takes rigorous professional board exams so that he or she may be licensed by a state or jurisdiction as a primary care, general practice physician.
In the state of Connecticut, Dr. Karvounides is a licensed naturopathic doctor. Ohio is currently an unlicensed state and Dr. Karvounides acts solely as a health consultant advising each patient to maintain healthcare with state licensed physicians.
